Here in the Ozarks we’re in a drought — no rain in over two months. The grass is brown and crispy, and the leaves are dropping early. Looks like fall has come sooner than expected. Just a year ago, when I first bought my Greenworks Commercial equipment, I never thought I’d be here, let alone being asked to be an ambassador and content creator for the brand. What started as my wife and I documenting the launch of our small lawn care company in the Ozark Mountains has turned into something much bigger. We just wanted to show that even if you’re over 50, you can still follow your dreams, start something new, and have fun with it. To be here today with Greenworks is surreal. We showed up to give a simple estimate. Before we even had a chance to walk the yard, she came out grumpy, started insulting us with sarcastic laughs after every comment, and then straight up started yelling. First thing she asked was, “Do you even know the difference between weeds and flowers?” — then laughed like we were clowns. We weren’t there more than three minutes before we walked. Her last lawn guy? He walked off too. This was one for the books…

This 4th of July, the family and I made some great memories putting up our first flagpole at our new home here in Arkansas. We broke out the Ryobi auger, got the kids involved, and made it happen. Client’s backyard hits up to a 70° angle—no chance for the OptimusZ 60” or stand-on mowers. They slid. We brought out the Greenworks Commercial 30” walk-behind, 80V electric mower. No ropes. My Greenworks Commercial Optimus 30” self-propelled mower went down — and it took nearly two months to get it fixed and running again. It all started with a routine blade change. What I didn’t know — and what’s never mentioned in the manual — is that the blade bolt is reverse-threaded. And to make things worse, it had Loctite on it. That combo snapped the bolt clean off in the spindle. Loctite on a commercial mower that needs blade changes every few days just doesn’t make sense. Now, to be fair, the delay wasn’t all Greenworks’ fault. Living out here in rural Arkansas makes everything more complicated. If we were still in Florida, where our dealer was just down the street, this would’ve been fixed in less than a week. Out here? It’s not that simple. To their credit, ***** worked hard and stayed on it. After some frustrating early communication — where I had to re-explain the situation over and over to different reps — I finally asked to speak to a manager. She stepped in, took control, and things moved quickly after that. ***** went the extra mile, calling around and doing the legwork to find a reliable repair shop for me. I turned down a bunch of options they found early on — a lot of places just weren’t qualified, and I don’t hand off my equipment to just anyone. I’m a little more picky than most (okay, a lot more picky). These machines are like my toys, and I like to keep them in pristine condition — call it OCD, but that’s just how I run. Eventually, found Greg’s Farm Services, only about an hour and a half from us — which honestly isn’t bad when you live in the middle of nowhere. Greg’s team did a great job. They got the broken bolt extracted without damaging anything, and got me back up and running. I now know I have a trusted shop I can go to if anything goes down in the future, and that gives me real peace of mind.

My wife and I were out at a client’s property, putting the Greenworks Commercial OptimusZ 60” Zero-Turn to the test. This all-electric beast can hit speeds up to 16 MPH, and it tore through 2 acres without breaking a sweat. She filmed while I mowed — and the OptimusZ made it look easy. We took on a 40-year-old rock garden that hadn’t been touched in decades — overgrown, packed with roots, rocks buried deep, and every plant had to be sourced one by one. Then came the rain. Tornado warnings. Mud. More delays. This job just wouldn’t end. We had to move every single rock by hand and drill every planting hole into rocky Arkansas clay.
