Putting LYMOW to the Test

Lymow reached out to us and asked if we'd be interested in putting their Lymow One Plus robotic mower through a real-world review here on our property in the Ozarks. We were excited to get our hands on it and see what this machine could actually do.

We started with the complete setup, including the charging station, RTK reference station and mapping our first mowing area. The setup and mapping process was relatively straightforward, and then it was time to put the Lymow to work.

One of the things that immediately separates the Lymow from many robotic mowers is its tracked drive system. Lymow rates the One Plus for slopes up to 45 degrees, along with the ability to cross obstacles up to 2.8 inches high. That's important for us because our property isn't flat—we have hills, rough areas and uneven terrain that can quickly show the limitations of a robotic mower.

The cutting system is another big difference. Instead of the small razor-style blades commonly found underneath robotic mowers, the Lymow uses dual rotary mulching blades with a 16-inch cutting width, with blade speeds reaching up to 6,000 RPM. It gives the machine a much more substantial cutting system for dealing with thicker and taller grass.

Over the next month, we ran it through just about everything we could—steep sections of our property, rough terrain, tall grass, direct sun, nighttime mowing, rain and even a storm. It just kept going. That's where the little powerhouse nickname came from: it doesn't seem to know the word stop. It just knows GO.

Navigation is handled through RTK + VSLAM, so there's no perimeter wire to install, and the mower can automatically recharge and then resume mowing where it left off. The 10A version is rated to cover up to 1.73 acres per day, making it a serious option for larger properties as well.

And of course, there's the convenience. After spending the day mowing other people's properties, it's pretty nice coming home and finding our own grass already taken care of. That's more time with the family and one less job waiting for us at the end of the day.

After a month of real-world testing, the Lymow One Plus impressed us with its traction, hill-climbing ability, cutting power, durability and its ability to simply keep working through some pretty challenging conditions.

This little machine is a powerhouse.
